Festival of Light

Last night we had the privilege to attend the preview evening at Mount Stewart's annual event 'Festival of Light'

The whole evening was enchanting from the most friendly staff welcoming us at the entrance. We don't look over details like this as everything we experienced made us feel we were part of the launch. When our names were found on the list of guests this was indeed very special. Another member of staff greeted us before we ventured round the magical lake, to invite us to partake of food and warm drinks and relax in the warmth of a beautiful teepee. The National Trust at Mount Stewart excelled in their planning of every part of the experience.

We started our stroll and didn't realise how enchanting the evening would be. Night time photography tested both of us but we still have photos to share. We are due to go back with the tickets we purchased and hope to take more photos then upload to our gallery to try and portray a glimmer of the wonders we saw.

I hope to blog a few more details after our second visit and upload extra photos. Today I am adding a few to this blog to encourage anyone who lives in Northern Ireland to plan to visit this event. I don't know if tickets are still available but please check with Mount Stewart as the event will take place every weekend in November. If tickets aren't available mark this event in your calendars for 2015. We had never been before and despite my problems with being out in the evening I am so pleased I rested and went along although I came home tired and cold  my mind was full of the changing scenes with lights and music from the movies and from the most welcoming staff who made our evening special. I think we were amongst the last to finish the walk. I knew when I started tripping over my tripod I was exhausted!

Looking forward to our return visit and hopefully this time I will have learned more about night photography but still enjoy the magic of the Festival of light.
